As the Alliance for Women in Media celebrates our 60th Anniversary, we will be calling attention throughout the year to critical issues that continue to affect women in media today. Our first symposium examined women and media ownership. Although women represent more that 50% of the population, women own only 6% radio stations and 5% TV stations in the U.S. In an era of increased consolidation in the media industry, how does ownership impact opportunities for women to contribute to management and content, as well as have a share in overall success? Join us as we look at where we have been, where we are today and what must be done to move the needle forward.
