Overview
The Operations Manager position is a leadership, programming and marketing role with responsibility for leading and managing all functions for successful programming operation and protecting the license of a radio station(s) in a specific market geography. The Operations Manager reports to a regional Market Manager and Senior Vice President of Programming.
Role Responsibilities
The Operations Manager is responsible for:
Operating the product of the business by growing the audience and continuing efficient operations to ensure cash flow growth at desired levels.
Leading and implementing initiatives that transform the product from a radio product to a media and entertainment product while maintaining expense controls
Implementing targeted, innovative, listener centric, business focused initiatives that drive audience growth by leveraging appropriate resources Balancing focus on return on investment while negotiating key talent contracts and advertising opportunities to maximize market potential.
Implementing the operational strategic plan and direction with other Operations Managers in the Region and company. Implementing the national digital radio platform and business strategy
Achieving key region / national business metrics and implementing strategic initiatives through the radio stations (such as increasing audience (listener) ratings for stations within the market).
Establishing and cultivating relationships with on air talent, entire radio station Staff, and community via civic engagement.
Identifying / growing exceptional on-air, online and promotions talent, managing / coaching employee performance, and holding employees accountable against audience and online growth metrics while leading, managing, and overseeing a culture of diversity and high ethical standards.
Communicating expectations clearly, in both individual and group settings supported with timely, thoughtful, quality, risk- based decisions.
Gaining buy in for and communicating the Clear Channel Radio vision internally and externally.
Leading through and cultivating an environment that embraces change and community engagement with a clear and compelling style.
Lead with solution focused approach in encouraging programmers to be flexible in meeting advertiser challenges.
Protecting the integrity of the product while supporting new approaches in a more challenging advertising environment.
Strategically protect the license, while overseeing and approving the product of radio stations which include, but are not limited to, news, production, imaging, personalities, traffic, special features, promotions, marketing, events, and sports programming.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The Operations Manager must possess:
A minimum of 5-8 years of media management within the radio business or a company with strong media/digital product and customer interface.
Substantial experience in digital strategy and the understanding of how to leverage digital assets to increase ratings and revenue
A proven track record in running successful business operations with documented ratings and online growth success.
Excellent communication and influencing abilities across multiple levels. Deep and broad business acumen with strong analytical, decision making and creative problem solving skills.
The ability to lead and execute in a multi-task, fast-paced dynamic environment. A strong talent mindset – exceptional people management and team performance experience.
CANDIDATE PROFILE

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of local markets, audience, customers and competitors by investing time in audience/listener facing activities and events to fully understand needs and drive optimum ratings and online growth. He/she will have demonstrated the ability to create short and long term audience-centered, strategic and highly competitive business plans. He/she must be highly creative and entrepreneurial in transforming the product by challenging the status quo and continuously reinventing the product at the market level. Execution Excellence. He/she will have a successful track record of implementing strategies, tactics, and deliverables through operational rigor, management practices, and strategic planning. He/she will be influential and collaborative in achieving value for the business, and will have the ability to understand corporate initiatives and be able to implement them locally to achieve superior results. In addition, the successful candidate must understand and analyze metrics, data, and trends, and be able to apply them to market initiatives for maximum results.
Leadership Skills. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to build high-performing teams by their ability to clearly communicate a vision that inspires and engages others. He/she will be a motivational leader who focuses the team around client and operational initiatives to maximize top and bottom line results. He/she must demonstrate courageous leadership through times of challenge and change, while creating positive energy in the face of those challenges. He/she will exude excellent leadership and management skills while fostering a highly collaborative operating environment.
