The policy of the Alliance for Women in Media and the Foundation of Alliance for Women in Media, (together “AWM,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is to respect and protect the privacy of our users. The official website for Alliance for Women in Media is www.allwomeninmedia.org and Alliance for Women in Media's ancillary websites including www.thegracies.org and www.awrt.org (collectively, the “Site”). This Privacy Policy is a part of the Site's Terms and Conditions and is binding on all Site users.
The Alliance for Women in Media includes as part of its mission, the constant effort to build users' trust and confidence in the Internet by promoting fair information practices. We collect Personal Information both online and offline . The Site provides certain activities where we gather Personal Information from users of the Site, such as an activity that requires that a user complete registration process (such as a membership application or conference or event registration) and receive/select a “user name” and password. Registration to participate in these Site activities may require the submission of your email address, zip code, date of birth and other Personal Information. Other Personal Information that may be submitted include your gender, industry position, occupation/role, to name a few. You will also have the ability to opt-in to additional subscription services, such as email news alerts, and promotional and marketing information to be received directly from our third party sponsors.
We collect credit or debit card account information from members and other individuals to pay for dues, Alliance for Women in Media events fees, publications, and donations to the Foundation, among other things. For payments made offline, we submit the Personal Information needed to secure payment to the appropriate clearinghouse. If payment is submitted online, we use an authorized third party operational service provider to collect and process your Sensitive Personal Information in a reasonably secure manner. Our operational service provider may also collect the security code associated with the credit or debit card. When members or other individuals choose to pay by check, we do not store checking account information. Payment information is retained for administrative and tax purposes.
If you are a member of the Alliance for Women in Media, we also use your name and contact information you choose to share with us in our online membership directory for the members of the Alliance for Women in Media. Every effort is made to ensure the accuracy of the information contained in the directory. Online access to the directory is password protected and restricted for use only by Alliance for Women in Media members and staff.
We may use the information you provide about yourself or others to enforce the legal terms of use for our Sites and for any other purpose for which you provided the information. We may use the information to communicate with you to contact you about your account with us.
Unless otherwise provided in a separate registration page, we do not request contact information for a mobile phone, text messaging or any wireless device that includes a domain name address (such as “verizon.com”) as part of the contact information. Federal law prohibits the sending of commercial email messages directly to a wireless device that uses a domain name, unless you have first given your affirmative consent. We may inadvertently collect a wireless device number that includes a domain name when you send us an inquiry or register for an event. We use your Personal Information to provide you with the features, services, or goods you request and to respond to questions related to the Alliance for Women in Media or our Site.
